Dear Drivers, A combination of factors has led to the cancellation of all 4 days of our Summer Camp at Summit Point event (July 29, July 30, July 31 AND August 1). We deeply regret that this has become necessary due to ongoing challenges in the motorsports industry. Reasons for this Decision Persistently high fuel prices, other inflation and car parts availability has caused a dramatic dropoff in event registrations. Summer Camp was always a lighter attended, but growing event and has been impacted particularly hard. Some drivers that have already registered are unable to attend the event due to the issues mentioned above. We've been operating HPDE events since 2004 and have never encountered anything like the downturn and difficulty we are currently experiencing. AutoInterests has never cancelled an event due to low attendance in its history. Unfortunately, we are now in a position where we must carefully manage resources to ensure we are able to serve our drivers for future seasons. The average distance being traveled by participants for Summer Camp is over 219 miles. Typically more than half of our drivers tow their track cars, which is especially costly traveling through the mountains. The fuel cost of just getting the AutoInterests staff to the event has also become unmanageable. Many drivers are understandably doing less days on track this season and staying closer to home; this has taken a significant toll on AutoInterests, which is a small, family business just like millions of others in the USA who are struggling in the current economic environment. Credits/Refunds Per the terms of our Refund & Purchasing Policy - event registrations are only refundable if we cancel an event for reasons other than "circumstances beyond our control", in which case a store credit would be issued. One could argue that this IS due to circumstances beyond our control, however 'economics' is not a listed criteria in the policy so we will honor refunds if you wish to receive one. BONUS credit option: unless you tell us otherwise by July 18, 2022, we will issue you a store credit in the amount you originally paid (pro rated if part of a track pack) PLUS a 10% bonus amount. This credit will be valid for two years from the date issued and can be used toward any future event. Given the difficulties we are facing, we would GREATLY appreciate it if you will agree to receive a store credit with bonus rather than a refund back to your credit card. We will begin to issue credits and/or refunds next Tuesday, July 19 after the allotted time has passed for you to indicate your preference. In Closing We’ve been through recessions, a pandemic and countless other challenges, but none of them have been as severe as the downturn we are experiencing in 2022. Many of you have been very patient with us as we’ve changed event formats, schedules, dates and taken other unusual steps to mitigate the challenges we currently face. For that, we are very appreciative. Our 2022 schedule largely mirrors the very successful 2021 season we had, yet the numbers are vastly different, leaving us speechless. Feedback from other motorsports event operators confirms that this is an industry-wide challenge. With no major changes being made to our program, schedule or pricing, we are left with paying out more in track rentals than we are bringing in from event registrations at a scale we have never encountered before. All of this is occurring while we are simultaneously faced with rising overhead, travel and operating costs. No matter what happens, and what decisions we have to make, you can rest assured that our unparalleled customer service in the industry will remain strong. As we move dates, make schedule changes, etc. we will always be fair and flexible to our drivers. Thank you for your continued support as we navigate these challenging times together. Very humbly, -The AutoInterests Team
